March Favourites // Extras.

I’ve been toying with the idea of doing ‘monthly favourites’ since last month, but by the time I’d decided to give it a try and see where it goes – it was already half way through February. I’m not sure if this is something I’ll do every month, or whether it will just be every now and again, but we’ll see.

I take quite a lot of pictures when I’m out and about, and a lot of the time I don’t really have anywhere to place them, so this is the perfect opportunity to post a few of my favourites from the last month.

I can’t believe how fast March has gone!! Spring is always such a special time. The sun starts to shine brighter again, the skies become bluer, and the flowers start to blossom. It’s so nice to see some bright colours after the dullness of Winter.

Now that the weather has been a little brighter, I’ve found myself wanting to go out more. I’ve always loved walking, so it’s nice to be able to get outside, and go explore in the sunshine. I’ve been spending a lot of time at Kirkstall Abbey lately. It’s very close to my house, so I tend to pass it quite often. When I see all the flowers around the gardens and the grounds, I just have to go spend a little time in there…everything is just so pretty!

I’ve always loved blossom trees because of how pretty they look, but I can honestly say that I’ve never experienced a blossom tree that smelt as fragrant as these ones did! We could smell them as soon as we started to approached them! They were absolutely stunning.

My niece likes the blossom trees as much as I do apparently! Haha!

Abbey Mes 3

I’ve gone a little crazy taking pictures of the flowers the last few times I’ve visited the abbey, and Spring has only just begun….

I have been experimenting with different cleansers for a good few months now. I have combination skin, and it’s also very sensitive, so I find I have to be very careful about the choices I make when it comes to what I put on my skin. I also think that a lot of cleansers tend to dry my skin out, which isn’t good considering my skin is more on the dry end of the combination spectrum.

I’d heard a lot of good reviews on Garnier’s ‘Micellar Water’, so I thought I would buy one of the mini sized bottles, and give it a try. So far, I really love it. It’s quite subtle, and has no fragrance, my skin hasn’t dried out, and I haven’t had any horrific break outs. Don’t get me wrong, my skin isn’t hugely hydrated after using it, but it doesn’t make it any worse either. I’m still searching for the ‘perfect’ daily cleanser, but until then I am impressed with this one for now, and recommend it if you have sensitive skin.

Music wise, Ed Sheeran has dominated this month, in my opinion! I’m a huge fan of Ed, so I was very excited for his new album ‘Divide’, to be released. I think that he’s an amazing songwriter, and I also love the fact that he’s super down-to-earth. I’m going to be very honest, I might have a shed a tear or two when I first listened to this album haha! Some songs on there are quite sad, but very sweet at the same time. My favourites are ‘Happier’, and ‘Save Myself’, which are both songs that are on deluxe version.

I’ve never been a huge fan of Lorde, but her song ‘Liability’, is one of my favourite singles of the month! You know those songs that you have on replay, and you never seem to get bored of? This is one of those songs for me. It’s also another song that’s quite sad…I promise I don’t always listen to just sad songs haha, but this one really touched me.

I also adore, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ By Ariana Grande and John Legend. It’s so sweet, and whimsical! I don’t think it quite beats the original Angela Lansbury version, or even the Celine Dion version – but it’s still lovely!

Speaking of ‘Beauty and the Beast’, I went to see it on Saturday and oh my goodness….it was so magical!! I had already prepared myself for tears, partly because everybody was saying that they had cried a lot, and partly because the animated version makes me cry, so I knew I would have to get the tissues at the ready – and I wasn’t wrong. There was so many times that I had to get myself together, especially the scene where they were dancing in the ballroom….it was just so beautiful…and I’m an emotional person, so you can imagine what I was like haha!

I really recommend you go see it if you’re a fan of Disney movies, or if you like musicals. It definitely has it’s cheesy moments, but it is a Disney movie so that’s to be expected sometimes. I wasn’t too sure about the casting prior to watching the movie, but all the actors were a fantastic fit for their roles. Having said that, Emma Watson will always be Hermione to me, but she still did a great job playing Belle.

For the first time in a while, I visited Primark the other day. I haven’t been in there in a really long time, but I wanted to treat myself to some new candles, so I had a quick visit.

My favourite section in the whole of Primark, is the homeware section. Guaranteed, every time I go in there, I always end up buying something from that department. They have the cutest things, and they are so reasonably priced – it’s difficult not to buy something.

When I spotted a few pretty candles, I couldn’t believe it when I saw the price. They were only 80p each!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen candles that cheap before. I actually really love Primark’s candles. They have some lovely scents that fill up the whole room for hours. You really can’t go wrong, especially if you’re on a budget. I refrained from going too crazy with the candle buying, but the ones that I did buy are lovely. I’ve already started burning the purple candle (patchouli & amber), and it smells devine. I still can’t believe they were only 80p! Very reasonable.

March has been a busy month! I have a few things coming up in April, which I’m excited for. My birthday being one of them! I have some time booked off of work, and have some mini trips coming up, which I’m looking forward to. Especially now that the nice weather is here.

I am working hard on some new blog posts, and I also really want to start blogging more than just once a week, like I am now. Sometimes it’s very difficult to find the time, and motivation to sit down and write when I’ve been busy, or after I’ve been to work – but I really am trying.

I have a few travel posts coming up, so keep an eye out!

Until then, all the best,

~April 🙂
